refection on practice
With the prototype of font design, I can quickly start typographic design. I can iterate many different layouts based on these fonts. This practice reminded me of the hierarchy workshop. In that workshop, we tried to divide the structure of a page with basic points, lines, and surfaces. I gained a lot in that workshop. I learned to plan the page more beautifully when the text is fixed. I also thought of some of the knowledge I learned in the Visual Essay project of Unit 1, that is, the courage to try the ultimate effects of graphics, and there will be unexpected surprises.
In practice, I found that design is an iterative process. I originally planned to design only one typesetting, but in the process of practice, different arrangements were made. A lot of knowledge learned in the Visual Language Workshops has influenced my design ideas. For example, when designing the second picture, I arranged the words "What is ego" consecutively, which reminded me of the law of similarity (elements that look similar will be perspectives as part of the same group or meaning). This makes the spider webs in each font intertwined, and the repeated arrangement makes them express the same theme more strongly.
And one practice always inspires the next, which makes me realize the infinite possibilities of graphic design, which is also the happiest experience whenever I am doing design.
