reflection

Today I brainstormed and organized it into mind maps. I listed all my favorite science fiction elements and extended them indefinitely. I found many interesting concepts.

In terms of character setting, I thought of two professions related to design for me, linguists and biologists. I have mentioned the relevance of language and design in a research in visual language, and what we discussed in the Thinking & Language workshop in Unit 1 has always been that, too. The relevance of biologists and design is now reflected in that more and more designers have entered the field of biology, using data or phenomena in the field of biology to design. For example, the sense of cocoa project I mentioned in the 741.16092 research. I would consider letting one of the protagonists engage in one of these occupations.

In terms of the plot of the novel, I hope to start from a small story to reveal the overall phenomenon of the future world, rather than directly describe the future big scene. I want to settle in a love story, and start the narrative by the relationship between the hero and heroine, and start the description from a trivial or ordinary day, so that the audience has a more sense of substitution.

In terms of time, I chose it in 2050. This is not a very distant era, which will highlight the near-futuristic and realistic sense of the fiction and cause people to think about the near future. Perhaps in the not-so-distant 2050, life will have more and more unknown forms, and our range of activities to explore the mystery has already exceeded the earth.

In terms of visual design, I will discuss the possibility of future visual design in the fiction, so my other protagonist must be a designer, and I will narrate the future design field through her experience. I will create something in the fiction that does not yet exist. Such as electromagnetic conveyor belt, moon memory station, digital memory, etc. In addition to the text description, I will make some corresponding images.

After these brainstorms, I have grasped the overall direction of the fiction. I think this is an important step for me to write a fiction. It provides me with practical divergent thinking. In this way, I will write the frame of the fiction more smoothly, and some of the points I mentioned in the brainstorm can also be added to the details of the fiction.
