visual experiment

reflection on the practice

As I found in the questionnaire, one's memory is the best reflection of one's ego. People's memories are made up of a bunch of frames, so I think photos are a medium. I want to use distorted pictures with dark, mottled marks to express memories, because memories are gradually disappearing. Since humans have selective memories, in the memories, the parts we want to remember become very clear, and the parts we don’t want to remember will gradually become blurred or even automatically blocked.

I tried an old photo to experiment. I want to think through making the experiment and choose the best visual effect. I can seek feedback on this in the next tutorial group to see if my peer thinks this visual experiment can express a sense of memory. Of course, this visual experiment is still going on. I will use more kinds of photos for the second visual experiment.

For me, the most relevant experience was that I was able to use my own materials to make a filter and add it to a new photo, making some mottled effects for the photo, and iterating rich changes. When I only make one filter, other solutions will continue to be derived from my mind. This may be because design is iterative. With this experience, I can complete more photo processing. However, I have not yet achieved the most ideal visual effect because I have not conducted enough visual experiments. After today ’s visual experiment, I found that the filter can make tens of countless forms, not just adding a layer to the original image, but more changes such as distortion, reversal, overlap, fragmentation, reorganization, etc. of the original image. I will make a bolder attempt in the next visual experiment.
