A methodology is a critical design attitude that informs the methods you choose.
Your methodology is often based on your values and assumptions as a designer.
Remember methods and mindsets / position?
- How is this project positioned in the field of design practice? Is this project done with an expert or participatory mindset? Or is it somewhere in the middle?
- In the middle. Because in this project, I will conduct more research on the theory context, which is rare in my previous projects. Moreover, I will communicate with the direct or indirect audience for many times to get some feedback. So my position is in the middle.
- Is it human-centered? Critical? Participatory? User-centred?
- Crucial. Due to My aim is to be to encourage people to debate a new concept, and Speculative and Critical Design (SCD)advocates is a kind of critical thinking. This will be very helpful for my project.
- Is is research-led or design led?
- Research-led. This is a change for me, because I have learned "pre-design" (research) and "post-design" (Activities) in SCD, and I will make corresponding adjustments to my work process.
- Will you use a design thinking approach? What is that?
- Critical Design."1.Define a context for debate/2.Ideate and find problems, and create a scenario/3.Materialize the scene to provoke an audience"
- How you will record what you do and keep track of what you have done?
- reflective journal in Workflow and Flow Analysis
This helps me to analyze bottlenecks and opportunities, and make timely adjustments and improvements.
