Reflection on the tutorial feedback
Today I showed the prototype of the box I made to the members of the studio.The process of getting feedback today can be described as a twist and a twist, and it took a long time.
At first, Rose didn't seem to understand my concept very well, and Isabel also raised questions. Rose asked me to explain where the ego theme fits with memory and How does a viewer know this is about ego? So I showed Rose my workflow about the questionnaire. Because Rose has not see this part of the survey results. These findings can illustrate these problems.
This makes me very worried whether there is a problem in communication.
Until Laurence said "It feels like qiqi means ego as personality, not ego as we understand it as a negative conotation as in 'inflated ego ’" suddenly found the cause of the problem. It turns out that the ego that everyone understands is not the same as what I understand.
Laura and Sadhna reminded me of this problem at the beginning of the project. I need to re-explain what I said about Ego, otherwise the audience will misunderstand. I should have done a visual explanation of ego before showing it to everyone, it will be clearer. Nor does it produce "vocab misunderstanding".
It turns out that this is the key issue of unsmooth communication! Finding this key point is very important to me. After that, people gradually understood my visual concept.
The feedback I got was: "It is almost like her box is the set of tools the artist uses: his / her memories, values, objects and personality and how they tap into that to respond to the world" This is exactly what I want to express, which is how the artists and designers' ego works in this world.
After everyone understood the concept I wanted to communicate, everything started to get smoother. I showed them the contents of the box. Everyone also understood the concept I wanted to convey.
In this feedback, I did not get the visual aspect, but the conceptual aspect. This is very helpful to me. Because the module I am more worried about is Communication. This time everyone's suggestions will make me make great progress in communication, which is very important for my project, and I will carry out my project more confidently.
