I have already drawn some sketches for the way of display in Week 23, and I want to display the box and the contents of the box in an interesting and intriguing way. At Week 23, I drew two drafts of the plan.
Considering the spider web elements mentioned in the project many times, my first plan was to place the box in the center of a large web. The designers&artists' personal inventory is posted on this web. It is best to print these photos on mirror paper to make them shine together. This is a plan that I am satisfied with. But I must think of a reasonable space for this solution. If I hang all these things, I need a lot of space.
The second plan is to place the box at a suitable height so that the audience can see it at a glance. And put 4 projectors on the ground, project the photos in the box on the four walls. When the audience walks into this space, their shadow will overlap with the photo on the wall. The audience will feel encased in a sea of memories, which are familiar and strange. But this plan requires me to find four projectors and find a suitable display space.
The exhibition space of these two schemes is a difficult problem. I am now in my hometown, and the exhibition halls I know are closed during the quarantine. I cannot contact the available showroom.
I re-read some of the previous workflows and wanted to find inspiration in it. "Spider Web", the representative's intention to connection, caused me to think again. Spiders come from nature, and I want to explore the relationship between individuals and the "world". What could represent the "world" better than nature? Nature is the most primitive appearance of the world. I remembered the place of the outdoor shooting in the 21st week, where there are not only interlaced woods, but also infinitely extended space, I can put the box between the sky and earth. In this way, the box becomes a small point, connecting other points, expressing the connection between ego and ego, and the connection between ego and the world.
So I thought of putting the display space outdoors. This not only solves my problem of displaying space, but this solution is very original. This kind of connection between creation and nature can better reflect the concept I want to express. I find the record in workflow very useful. When I encounter a bottleneck, it always inspires me.
With the right display space, I came up with three new plans. Two of them are based on trees. Because spiders will thread on the tree, the branches themselves are also intertwined, which constitutes a natural network of connections. In the first plan, I thought of sticking all the photos I took on a tree trunk, and then hanging the personal inventory of other artists and designers on the branches. Another solution came out after this week ’s tutorial feedback, which is to put the box on the tree, arrange the photos one by one, and extend to the ground to form a path. From a single tree to the ground that supports it, it expresses the deep connection between the individual and the collective. The third option is to insert the photo directly on the outdoor ground to form the word "EGO". Viewers can clearly see the content of each photo, and they can also read cards with text.
